Super Mario 64 Non-stop - There are a lot of AR codes you can apply to the game, but I think this one is most worthy of a mention. It's not as intuitive as the real series, but you can make some cool stuff in it. Super Mario 64 Maker - This allows to make your own levels in Super Mario 64 with a drag and drop interface.

Super Mario 64 Split-screen - Will cover this one in the local multiplayer section but wanted to list it here with the other Super Mario 64 mods as well. Luigi can jump high, Peach can hover, Wario can deal additional damage, etc. Super Mario 64 Online - Play online with other players, and choose from a wide variety of characters with different move-sets. In addition, hundreds of other settings can modified, like disabling the HUD, no forced level exits, adding move-sets in from Sunshine and Odyssey, etc.

That may sound like a generic compliment, but you do see many repetitive ROM hacks where you feel like you're repeating the same motions over and over again, but not with this one. All the levels are well crafted and the challenges are varied and creative. Sunshine Secret Book 64 - By GomePlayTV - 40 Stars - 2019 - This ROM hack mixes things up a bit by having Shine Sprites in place of Stars. In addition, many mini games are recreated too, and sound effects from the original Mario Party are used.
Mario Party 64 - By MrComit - 70 Stars - 2020 - This ROM hack takes the original Mario Party boards and makes platforming stages out of them to great results. There are 12 new power-ups, a ton of custom assets, and many newly designed bosses. It is what I would consider the single most technically impressive Super Mario 64 ROM hack and one of the best designed as well. Super Mario: Last Impact - By Kaze Emanuar - 130 Stars - 2016 - This ROM hack took the creator Kaze Emanuar 4000 hours to complete. Mario's move-set has also expanded to include an aerial dive, butt bounce, and mid-air hover. Each level has its own theme that incorporates the world theme. Each of the 33 levels and 8 bosses are totally unique. Super Mario 64 Land - By Kaze Emanuar - 131 Stars - 2019 - This ROM hack plays more like Super Mario 3D Land/World in its design in that the levels are linear, but there are stars along the way. This set the standard for future ROM hacks and is still probably the best today.

Super Mario: Star Road - By Skelux - 130 Stars - 2011 - This ROM hack was one of the earliest to be a full game while having an all around great level of quality. I'm going to list my 5 favorites with a description and some pictures. It is the most hacked game of all time, and there are more Super Mario 64 ROM hacks out there than all the other franchises mentioned in this post. Super Mario 64 ROM hacking is nothing new, but in recent years the quality, length, and uniqueness of the hacks have increased tenfold.
